The Data Synchronization phase is the final step of the process. Once Synchronization Actions have been defined, ByteSync executes them across all Data Nodes. This includes copying files, updating contents or timestamps, and deleting items when required.
Starting Synchronization
Synchronization can only be started by the First Session Member. A Start Synchronization button is available in their interface.
When this button is clicked, a confirmation popup is displayed, presenting a summary of the synchronization that is about to be performed.

Other members cannot start the synchronization themselves. They will see a waiting message until the first member initiates the process.

During Synchronization
Once started, ByteSync performs all the planned operations. Data is transferred between nodes as needed, with end-to-end encryption (E2EE). Progress indicators and statistics are updated in real-time, showing details such as:
- Total number of handled actions
- Volume of synchronized data
- Uploaded, downloaded, and locally copied volumes
- Transfer efficiency and data reduction rate
- Number of successes and errors

During synchronization, a ABORT button is also available. It allows the first session member to stop the ongoing synchronization process for all participants. This can be useful in case of an unexpected issue, an incorrect action, or if the user wants to review synchronization rules before resuming.
When the button is pressed, ByteSync asks for confirmation before interrupting the process to prevent accidental cancellation.
Results
When synchronization is complete, the results are displayed in the Synchronization column of the comparison table. Each item shows whether its action was successfully applied or if an error occurred.

At this point, all Data Nodes are aligned according to the chosen actions. If needed, you can restart a new Data Inventory to verify consistency across nodes.
